CODEX STAN 198-1995, adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and amended through 2019, sets quality and safety requirements for husked rice, milled rice, and parboiled rice intended for direct human consumption. It defines classification by size and degree of milling, limits for foreign matter and defective kernels, and contaminant and hygiene provisions, and underpins many national and EU rice trade regulations. Vibe imaging workflows measure the same broken-kernel, foreign-matter, and defect parameters the standard classifies rice against.
